Samantha Cowell, CPA
Managing Partner
Samantha (Sam) Cowell is the founder and Managing Partner of Cowell CPA. Licensed as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Georgia, she also holds a Master of Accounting and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting with a minor in Finance, both from Kennesaw State University. After 7 years in the corporate setting, holding various accounting and procurement roles, she left to enter small business world, where she has been since (and doesn’t plan to ever leave!). She earned her CPA license under Tom Devaney, working under him for 2 years at Devaney & Associates CPAs. Upon Tom retiring at the end of 2023, Sam founded Cowell CPA to continue with her Devaney & Associates client base. Her passion is making a difference in her client’s lives through helping their businesses succeed financially.
In her personal life, Sam is a single mother to a teenage daughter (God help her!) and a corgi, who she considers her second child. In her free time when she’s not attending her daughter’s sporting events, she loves to cook, hosting an extended-family dinner each Sunday, and always has a book she’s reading.
Jessica Dodge
Bookkeeper
Jessica Dodge is a bookkeeper with Cowell CPA. Prior to joining Cowell CPA, she held various positions in a wide array of industries. She started her career in the entertainment industry with the Atlanta Braves on the Tomahawk Team for 3 years. Then earning her Associate Degree in Healthcare Management from Chattahoochee Technical College, she worked in the medical space for 2 years before changing career paths one last time to accounting. She earned her Associate Degree in Accounting from Chattahoochee Technical College and joined Devaney & Associates CPAs in May 2023. Upon the founder of Devaney & Associates CPAs retiring at the end of 2023, Jessica continued her accounting career with Cowell CPA (founded by previous Devaney & Associates CPA, Samantha Cowell, to continue with the client base). She assists the firm in providing bookkeeping and accounting services.
In her personal life, Jessica enjoys staying active by playing on the tennis team for her Woodstock, GA neighborhood.
